Sample Off-Season Itinerary (7 days)

Shorter and longer itinerary plans are available.

Depart US to Keflavík on Icelandair.

Day 1 – Reykjavík
Arrive in Iceland and take the FlyBus to Reykjavík accommodations (IST provides tickets). Free time to explore Reykjavík or take a part-day tour (see below for options). Stay at accommodations ranging from 4-star hotels (small, large, quaint, modern) to charming guesthouses located in downtown Reykjavík. Private facilities and breakfast included.

Day 2 – Golden Circle
Take Golden Circle Super Jeep Tour, which departs from your accommodations at 9:00 AM and returns by 6:00 PM. Tour includes visits to Thingvellir National Park, Geysir hot springs area and Gullfoss waterfall. The Jeep tour makes a stop at or near a glacier and offer and optional snowmobile ride on or near the glacier (weather permitting). Option to take a shorter bus version of the tour, which does not include a visit to the glacier.

Day 3 – Reykjavík
Free day to explore Reykjavík taking in the cultural highlights and perhaps some time to shop. Option to take one of several Northern Lights evening tours offered on a daily basis, weather and good viewing conditions permitting.

Day 4 – South Shore
Take a full day South Shore Adventure tour (via minibus). See magnificent waterfalls, lava beaches and geothermal areas of southwest Iceland. Departs from hotel at 9:00 AM and returns by 6:00 PM. Overnight in Reykjavík.

Day 5 – Reykjavík
Enjoy another free day in the capital city to relax at a local spa, take a dip in one of the outdoor geothermal pools (yes, open every day of the year) or take in the latest gallery openings.

Day 6 – Borgarfjörður
Take the Iceland in a Nutshell Super Jeep Tour with top guide Kristjan covering some of Iceland’s rugged interior over Kaldidalur (Cold Valley) and the history-rich region of Borgarfjörður.

Day 7 – Reykjavík – Blue Lagoon - Home
After breakfast, check out and wait for pickup with luggage for the Blue Lagoon Tour, which includes time to bathe at the lagoon. You will be dropped off at Keflavík airport with your luggage at 2:30 PM in time for check-in before your flight departure for the US.

Feel free to add or drop a day or two to this itinerary.  For flight departures to Europe, the final day in Iceland may require adjustments. Check with IST for options and costs.
